...for a child
The Dunn Institute offers daily after-school tutoring and small group instruction, as well as a rigorous supplemental education summer program. While some of our children come from families who have the financial resources to pay a fee for service, we continually meet hundreds of low-income children whom struggle with their learning but do not have the financial resources to receive the support they need. This is why it is so important that we are able to secure private donations to provide services to all children in need, as opposed to just those children who can afford them.
...for a teacher
The launch of our Hasbro Center for Teaching Excellence has provided us with the opportunity to significantly expand the number of teachers trained through our professional development programs. As we all know, there is a tremendous amount of pressure for teachers to understand the minds of their students and provide appropriate strategies and interventions that will result in academic progress for all of the children in their care. We are providing teachers with the tools they need rise to this challenge and unlock the potential of the diverse learners in their classroom.

Once a child's self-esteem and self-confidence improve as a result of academic achievement, the frustration and anxiety often felt by their parents decreases - resulting in improvements within the entire family unit. These improvements are a tremendous relief to the hundreds of families who call us each year desperate for techniques to support their children. Additionally, we provide workshops and conferences specifically designed to provide parents with the skills they need to support their child's academic and social success.
