Recognizing that a learning disability can affect the entire family and that parents often struggle to support their children outside of the classroom, the Dunn Institute offers workshops designed specifically for parents - to give them the keys they need to help to unlock the potential of their children.
Parents are a crucial part of the success equation for students with learning differences. To this end, we're committed to providing current, useful resources. Following are upcoming workshops and conferences for parents (click on the links for more details):
1. Friday, October 27, 2006, Parenting Resource Associates is offering a full-day workshop on "Quirky Kids: Understanding and Supporting Young Children Who Don't Easily Fit In".
2. November 17, 2006, The Tourette Syndrome Association, in partnership with Bradley Hospital and the Community Provider Network of RI, is sponsoring a workshop for professionals with Ross Greene, PhD, on the topic of "Treating Explosive, Non-Compliant Kids: Collaborative Problem Solving".
3. Sunday, December 3, 2006, from 1 - 5PM, the Dunn Institute is offering a half-day workshop on "The Parent's Survival Guide to Homework". The workshop explores Dr. Mel Levine's 8 neurodevelopmental constructs and helps parents better understand and manage diverse homework assignments and the emotional outbursts that may accompany them.
